Where do we go from here?
Im almost at a loss for words. I mean we've done some stupid things as a club in the past. The sacking of Bobby Robson, Ruud Gullits 'sexy football' , Big Sam, but this....this is grade A first class 5 star insanity.
A manager who doesnt have a say in which players to bring in or who to sell. I wonder if Mike Ashley tells the managers of his Sports Direct stores which staff to hire? I doubt it, i think he trusts them to make that decision. So why is Keegan not given that same trust?
Ashley sells Milner, against the managers wishes, but doesn't bring in a replacement right winger? And Im sorry, I've never heard of "Nacho" Gonzales or Xisco.
Who would want to manage us now? Ashley's looking for his third manager in 2008. Who'd accept someone like Dennis Wise picking transfer targets? Shearer's already said he doesn't want it because of the management structure. Will we get lumbered with Sven?

Won't you take me by the hand, take me somewhere new
It's late. Early. Late.
My work is nowhere near completion, but I didn't actually do anything tonight. I suppose I'm just lazy; I have a half-done piece of extended critique that is actually pretty easy to do if I want to set my mind to it – you know, just some slamming of terrible paragraphs and there you have it: over the word limit.
I guess I'm just disappointed somehow, I had absolutely no mood to do anything at all tonight, and I decided to not do anything (ooh, split infinitive) and not be guilty about it. Today... was disappointing. Hmm. I think I might be hypocritical when I say this, but if you're really not in mood to do something, don't do it. Maybe I have unrealistic expectations, and maybe I'm just setting things up too much. Quite a lot of what I'm involved in outside academia is disappointing these days... academia is going perfectly well, of course, as it always does. I don't know what to feel. Conflicted? Confused? Those are the same, right? Or at least similar.
My happiness comes from my work nowadays, I like to immerse myself in such familiar things. I don't think it's an aversion to the unknown, but it's strange. This has never ever happened before. And I don't want it to continue. I don't want things to continue the way they are now.
What am I doing?

The gospel according to St James's part II
Robbo Robson 5 Sep 08, 10:54 AM A while back, when Keegan came again to Newcastle, some bloke handed me a pamphlet called 'The gospel according to St. James's'.
Some of you enjoyed it, others struggled to read it because some of the words came in a different order to how we use them nowadays and it was a little too much for your brains when you're only having a quick shufti at a footy blog while you should be bloody well working.
Any road, it turns out that this fella didn't give me the whole story, so here's Part II. You Magpies must be gagging for a guy like Gibbo up there.
"And lo, King Kev didst stay amongst the throng that did mass in black and in white in the land of tabs and birds and bottles o' dog.
"For many long nights did he vow to rest there. And though points were scarce yet he held his faith and by and by there came a front three of Viduka, Martins and Owen, and much joy didst they bring. And King Kev did open his arms to the sick, the stupid, and the sinful (well, Joey Barton, really) and all would be well on the Tyne.
"But unto the place there came a Wise Man. He, short of stature and narrow of eye, arriveth. His voice was most strange, such as a second-hand car dealer might use, and he did say such things as 'Leave it aht, give over, you're fammlee!'
"And the Wise man, who didst nought but ducketh and diveth, didst anoint himself Director of Football. Then was King Kev thrown into despair, for, thought he, if I do not direct football then what the hell am I here for? And lo, though Terry Mac didst him beseech to 'calm down' King Kev was sore o'erwrought.
"He sought out his master, he that is known as His lardship Ashley, possessed of wealth beyond imagination and supernatural powers such that he can turn beer into thin air before one's eyes.
"And lo, the Lard didst speak, and he did say unto Kev: 'Much trusted wert thou but then didst thou turn upon thy own kind and speak of the utter hopelessness of our ever conquering the Big Four Horsemen of the Premier League.
"And much shame didst thou bring upon us with thy reality check. And hast thou not solved the centre-back problem? And is't not yon Michaelowen so much unwell that we might as well sell him to West Ham, where all are crocked or sold? Nay, then shall we and the little Wise man take from thee all that thou hadst save the name of Manager.'
"Then didst King Kev fall upon'st the sod (not Ashley, the ground) and didst from his pram throw many toys. And he did cry unto his Master 'Lard, Lard, why hast thou forsaken me?'
"For 'tis true that when he returned to his home of St. James's, he found the window has closed and no Milner could be found, for lost was he to the right hand of O'Neill.
"And word from East Lands came, where once the mighty Kev had lived and done yet another runner. There, many riches had poured into the lap of one they called Sparky, who didst not know what the hell was going on himself but seemed dead chuffed any road, and even then knew'st more than one Robinho, who still thinkest he is with Chelsea - the dimwit. And King Kev wept.
"And the skies darkened and the sky split with lightning and those that would defend King Kev didst fall to the ground in dismay and howl unto the Gate of Gallow: 'Alas, when will a canny fella come along and throw a shedload of cash at us?'
And Ashley was condemned to Hull whence he did wear his Magpie shirt with the same name upon the back, only now there was an apostrophe in front of it so it read: 'KING KEV.
"And thus unto the wilderness were cast the Magpies, there to faff about pretending to be a football club. And none of the powerful shall discuss the elephant in the room, not least the elephant in the room, the lard Ashley.
"And years shall pass, more fallow than before, years when Big Sam didst seem an entertainer most excellent, and even Roeder didst seem to speak with the voice of angels.
"And more shall come, the Moyes and the Deschamps, the Sven and Houllier, but none shall stay, for as anyone can foretell, a manager cannot manage if his balls are no in his own court but in the grip of some pint-sized Cockney.
"But then the disciples saw anew the true Messiah. And it was not Kev. It was he that didst lounge with the Lawro and hide with the Hansen, in shirts most bizarre that he must shop at the same gaff as Graham Norton.
"And all shall come before him, yea even the Wise man and the Lard Ashley. And many wives shall be offered in sacrifice, aye and families too. And the army of Toon shall wait at the Gate of Gallow in the land of St.James's til the bell that tolls the end of the world crying 'Shearer! Shearer! Shearer!'" |

333: tabletop stasis   Yeah the table top has been like this all year the mess is overflowing and has threatened to take over the entire room ... well OK it devoured all the floorspace and then you know what I did??? I conquered it with my feet and walked all over them ... my tolerance for my own mess is really hypocritical I hate others' mess and I keep cleaning up after people but never after myself check out the cavalierly dismissed curtains!!! plus arent they so damn 70s?? yeah it was some old cloth from the 70s made to block out the damn sun from the sunniest room in the house you probably cant see this but the dust bunnies have been reproducing according to fibonacci numbers ... they've overpopulated the tabletop I bet you're like wondering HOW and WHERE do I do my work??? simple: I don't OK the truth is I do it on my bed. then I fall asleep right after I levelled this here messiaen table before blocks and it piled up right after blocks I haven't sat there at all except during like the first month of school? 332: I am not studying
I am not studying. That's evident, isn't it? And when I am not studying, I develop a resentment for all my usual slack kakis who seemingly have adopted the serious and worldly stance of studying and abandoned me in my hazy dolorous daze. I should be studying too! And cleaning my room! Which I am not! But ... the day is so beautiful in its tenuous stasis.
I've been feeling very dreary and dreamy ... my mind is caught up with all my dreams, really, I think I ought to start a dream diary. I had a nightmare this morning again. And days and nights, they're just two sides of a coin to me. Nothing is like what it should be ...I wonder how I have lost my acute sensitivity to time passing. Some part of me must have found refuge and latent satisfaction in the glory of unpaced and unrushed days.
It's high time for me to disrupt any insouciance that's been budding and head back to the necessary discontent...
I wish this could go on for longer, some sort of sojourn for me to feel happy again, to sleep and finally close my fingers on the meanings of my mind, grasp the purpose of it all, fulfil my calling, all before I have to face the things I don't want but have to do, and so on. I really don't want to grow old ... I'm growing old but not any wiser. It's a beautiful day, I just want to bask in its beauty ... I don't want to know any more, I don't know any more

ho ho elizabeth is world champ again! http://redsports.sg/2008/09/02/elizabeth-y in-sailing/ anw ytd was extreme fun, we went to play WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL for liza's classmates's pw trial. yes, i hung out with ma new smtp homies y'all - huayu cool. it was at united world college (which is damn far away lah), i watched some uwc people play indoor volleyball before that. half the girl's team was taller than me wtf. angmohzz and their neverending legs hahaha   haha we had training for a while then we had a game with them! mixed of course, so they couldn't pwn us that badly haha. it is so amazingly FUN! i was having the time of my life, seriously. i love sprinting to the other end of the court and marking/dodging people and SHOOTING! all on my wheelchair! haha it is really super fun and i'm in awe of handicapped people now. felt so helpless when i needed people to pick up balls for me, and when i got the ball to shoot i had to stop, put it on my lap and swivel my chair around to face the hoop, compared to just turning my body with legs. which was also damn fun to do - wheelchairs rock! although from now on if i see anyone in a wheelchair i'll offer to push them.  a taste of being (mentally) disabled   heehee i'm having alot of fun with balls  wheeling up the ramp is NO JOKE. why do they have a slanted court anyway?!  the uwc pool liza: "like country club"  heck even the uwc toilet is nice  hurt my hand though! haha it's blood although it looks like really arty paint. |
